MARCEL EWEN

NOT EXACTLY THE QUIET TYPE.

Some people take the easy road. Marcel prefers one with a few obstacles. And preferably, a horse underneath him.

THE BOY WHO HAD BIGGER PLANS

It all started with a Luxembourg Pony Championship title.

For some, that might have been enough. A trophy, a few photographs, a proud family.

For Marcel? Just the beginning.

At 16, while others were busy making plans for the weekend, he packed his bags and headed to Sedan, France.

His destination: the professional stables of Hervé Francart.

His ambition: to become a serious show jumper.

Simple enough. Well, in theory.

The first victories at advanced level soon followed, along with appearances on the international circuit.

But Marcel wasn't finished learning.

TRAINED BY THE BEST. SPOILED BY NONE.

Next stop: Brazilian equestrian legend Nelson Pessoa.

Several months immersed in the world of one of show jumping's most respected names.

Then came a winter with French superstar Roger-Yves Bost.

Different riders. Different methods. Different personalities.

Marcel collected experience, not souvenirs.

And somewhere along the way, he developed a style of his own.

A SOLDIER WITH A DIFFERENT KIND OF MISSION

In 2006, Marcel joined the Luxembourg Army as a military athlete.

Not exactly a desk job.

By 2007, he was standing on the podium at the Military World Championships in Fontainebleau, having secured individual silver and team silver alongside his sister Ketti Ewen and Sarah Pétré.

In 2008, he joined Luxembourg's COSL Elite Squad.

His military sporting career would take him to major international competitions, including Rio de Janeiro and Wuhan, where he achieved fourth-place finishes.

Apparently, wearing Luxembourg's colours suited him rather well.

HAMBURG 2011. SOME RIDES YOU NEVER FORGET.

The German Jumping Derby in Hamburg is not a competition for the faint-hearted.

Its legendary course has challenged generations of the world's finest riders.

In May 2011, Marcel arrived with Orgueil Fontaine. And left with third place.

A remarkable achievement at one of show jumping's most demanding and prestigious events.

Not bad for a rider from a country that could comfortably fit inside some international training itineraries.

STILL HUNGRY. STILL JUMPING.

Years of international competition followed.

Different countries. Different horses. Different challenges.

There were victories, setbacks, unforgettable rounds and plenty of lessons along the way.

And in 2026? Marcel claimed the Luxembourg Senior Show Jumping Championship.

Some riders spend their careers looking for the top. Others find their way back.

Marcel apparently wasn't finished collecting titles.

BACK WHERE IT ALL COMES TOGETHER

Today, at MC Weyer in Luxembourg, Marcel brings his international experience into the daily training of horses and riders.

No magic formulas. No shortcuts.

Just years of experience, an eye for talent and a passion for the sport that hasn't lost its edge.

And after all these years? He's still happiest with a horse beneath him and a course ahead.

Because some people simply aren't made to stand still.
